The result of the 1st ballot for the 25th Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon will be announced via the Event Website and to all applicants via their email addresses registered in the application. Please refer to the Event Website for the event details and registration.

Staff or students who have successfully registered for the marathon are welcome to apply as a member of the HSUHK Marathon Team by completing this Online Registration Form

Remarks

  • Weather – if Red/Black Rainstorm or Typhoon Signal No.8 is hoisted at 3:00 p.m., the session on the day will be cancelled.

  • The coach will observe the weather condition and change the session to the fitness centre or indoor venues if necessary.

  • Please reserve time to change to sportswear.

  • The group will start running and leave the campus at 6:10 pm, please attend the lesson on time.

  • Participants must comply with the following laws of the HKSAR government:

  • “Prevention and Control of Disease (Prohibition on Group Gathering” Regulation (Cap. 599G) , no group gathering with more than the limit of number may take place in any public place.

  • “Prevention and Control of Disease (Requirements and Directions) (Business and Premises)” Regulation (Cap.599F), Sub-groups of 12 persons will be required to keep such a distance in between each sub-group.

  • “Prevention and Control of Disease (Wearing of Mask)” Regulation (Cap. 599I), requirements to wear a mask in public place, except during the training.

Quota is limited and registration will be processed on a first-come-first-served basis. 

Interested team members can register for the class by completing the Online Registration Form. The application deadline of the team member and classes is 13 December (Tuesday), 11:00 a.m. 

Successful registration candidates will receive a confirmation email on or before 15 December (Thursday).

HSUHK Marathon Team 2022

🏃‍♂️Public Ballot Registration for
the 25th Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon opens on 15 November🏃‍♀️

Dear Colleagues and Students,

The 25th Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon will be held on 12 February 2023. The Public Ballot Registration will be available on the Marathon’s official website from 15 November to 21 November. Interested students or staff can register via the official website at 10 a.m. on 15 November onwards on a first-come-first-served basis.

If you have successfully registered for the marathon, you are welcome to enroll in the HSUHK Marathon Team and apply for free training sessions and workshops arranged by SAO PE. Detailed information will be provided in December. The top three half-marathon / 10 km finishers in the student or staff category of the team will be rewarded*. Students can also submit the result to gain PA hours /iGPS units!

Course Description:

This module examines the significance of sports in contemporary Hong Kong society. The first half of the module focuses on introducing various macro- and micro-sociological perspectives and students will understand the social and cultural influences of sports. The second half of the module guides the students through the relevant approaches to analyzing different issues, such as sports policy, national identity, commercialization, gender, and individual behaviour changes, etc., with respect to sports and its development in Hong Kong. By the end of the module, students are expected to suggest possible solutions to the problems discussed.

Upon completion of this module, students should be able to:

  • Identify the importance of sports in the society. 
  • Examine a range of sociological perspectives on sports.
  • Apply relevant approaches to analyzing selected sports-related issues in
    Hong Kong.
  • Construct possible solutions to the problems with respect to sports in
    Hong Kong society.
