HSUHK Sinfonietta, founded in 2012 by a group of passionate students, is now a vital performing team of HSUHK Cultural Groups under the Student Affairs Office. The orchestra aims to bring together talent through music, fostering teamwork and leadership skills through regular rehearsals. Members not only enhance their musical abilities but also develop skills in team leadership, event organization, and community engagement.
Since its inception, the orchestra has performed at numerous significant university events, including but not limited to the Convocation for New Students, Graduation Ceremony, High Table Dinner, HSUHK Chill Muse, and other naming ceremonies. Additionally, the orchestra initiates different music performances with campus, such as “Afternoon Chill Music Show 2023” and “HSUHK Sinfonietta Mini Concert 2025”.
The orchestra also actively engages with the community to share the joy of music. For instance, the orchestra has performed at festive occasions in community spaces such as K11 and Megabox shopping mall and held an exchange concerts in local primary schools.
Ms Jane Chan is the conductor of the orchestra. Jane is a master’s graduate from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama with major in Orchestral Conducting. Under her dynamic and professional training, HSUHK Sinfonietta will continue to reach new heights.
