The HSUHK Co-op Internship Programme is a unique three-way partnership between the University, employers, and students, designed to enhance students’ work experience and competitiveness in achieving their career goals.

Through a valuable 6-month structured work attachment, the Co-op Internship Programme provides students with the opportunity to develop technical and soft skills, gain industry insights, and build professional networks. This prepares students for a seamless school-to-work transition and increases their competitiveness in the job market. Simultaneously, the program offers significant benefits to the hiring companies.

For Employers:

The Programme allows you to build a pipeline of talent by vetting and screening student interns as potential future hires. Students participating in the programme are more likely to accept full-time return offers upon graduation, making it an excellent way to cultivate a pool of skilled and successful candidates.

HSUHK will support the initial screening, pre-internship training and post-internship evaluation

For Students:

Industry Training: Gain 6-12 months of relevant industry experience during your degree, providing valuable real-world insights into your chosen profession.

HSUHK Co-op Internship Programme is a unique three-way partnership between the University, employers, and students, designed to enhance students’ work experience and competitiveness in achieving their career goals.

Through a valuable 6-month structured work attachment, the Co-op Internship Programme provides students with the opportunity to develop technical and soft skills, gain industry insights, and build professional networks, preparing them for a seamless school-to-work transition and increasing their competitiveness in the job market; likewise, enabling corporations to build a talent pipeline for business development.

The Co-op Programme of HSUHK also consists of our newly invent component – HSUHK Hong Kong-GBA Dual-Place Internships which offers HSUHK students a distinctive opportunity to work in both Hong Kong and one of the other GBA’s cities during the same internship.

The Dual-Place Internships enables HSUHK students to gain insights into how the GBA cities achieve mutually beneficial complementarities, creating unique advantages for their future career development and as well as fostering the development of future talent for the region.

  • Insurance for Dual-Place Internship: HSUHK will arrange travel insurance for student interns throughout the internship period in the GBA.

Duration & Work Mode:

Hong Kong Co-op Programme

  • 6 months for the entire internship in Hong Kong
  • Full-time or part-time (2-3 working days per week)

HK-GBA Dual-Place Internships

  • 6 months for the entire internship
  • 3 months Full-time internship in the GBA from June – August
  • 3 months Part-time internship in Hong Kong from September – November

Europe Internship Scheme

The Internship Scheme for Hong Kong Students in Europe (Europe Internship Scheme) is run by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Offices (HKETOs) in Europe.  

The Scheme aims to broaden the horizons of Hong Kong students, whilst strengthening interpersonal bonds to further the bilateral ties between Europe and Hong Kong. Please note that the vacancies are open to students at all universities in Hong Kong.

What is the GBA?

The development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), which comprises the two Special Administrative Regions of Hong Kong and Macao, and the nine municipalities of Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Foshan, Huizhou, Dongguan, Zhongshan, Jiangmen and Zhaoqing in Guangdong Province, is accorded the status of key strategic planning in the country’s development blueprint. Having great significance in the country’s implementation of innovation-driven development and commitment to reform and opening-up, it also generates new impetus for growth to bring new development opportunities especially young people.

The objectives of the development are to further deepen cooperation amongst Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, fully leverage the composite advantages of the three places, facilitate in-depth integration within the region, and promote coordinated regional economic development, with a view to developing an international first-class bay area ideal for living, working and travelling.

The HSUHK Global Internship Programme 2025 (Overseas part) offers a wide array of internship opportunities in various countries during summer 2025.

The ASEAN Internship Scheme for Hong Kong Higher Education Students (ASEAN Internship Scheme) is run by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Offices (HKETO) in Singapore/ Jakarta/ Bangkok, which offers opportunities for HK university students to take up summer internships in ASEAN member countries.
