Course Description:
This module analyses how globalisation and historical forces shape cultural diversity in sport, impacting practices across different cultures. It evaluates the role of mega sports events, such as the Olympics, in promoting cultural exchange and negotiating identities while fostering intercultural understanding. The module also examines the cultural significance of sports rituals and traditions, assessing their implications for identity formation and community building. Finally, it develops strategies for promoting culturally sensitive and inclusive practices in sport, engaging various stakeholders to create a more equitable and understanding global sporting community.
