Inclusion Week

HSUHK is committed to promoting a diverse and inclusive campus environment, where each student’s unique personality, talents and values are respected and appreciated.

From 9 to 16 March 2023, the Student Affairs Office organised the annual Inclusion Week, themed ‘Strength Lies in Differences’. To kick-off the Inclusion Week, Mr So Wa-wai, six-time Paralympic gold medallist; Mr Fan Ka-ho, para-athlete (table tennis) and Ms Elaine Wu Siuling, Executive Director of the Hong Kong Paralympic Committee were invited to share their experiences in the ‘Para Athletes’ Sharing of the Spirit of Paralympics’ talk.

Among various activities, a film screening of ‘Zero to Hero’ was shown. Students also had the opportunity to experience FloorCurling in wheelchairs. Additionally, hearing-impaired and visually-impaired instructors as well as magicians with ADHD taught participants about sign language, aromatherapy and magic tricks, enabling participants to connect to the world with different senses and understand the importance of building an inclusive campus.

EM-Power's First Talk About Religion - Understanding Islam

Mufti Arshad is the head Imam of Hong Kong’s largest mosque in Tsim Sha Tsui who holds vast knowledge of Islamic teachings and religion. He has held many talks about Islam at different universities around Hong Kong.

His sharing on 23 March 2023 helped HSUHK students understand Islam’s actual teachings and eliminate stereotypes about Islam.

Dreams Beyond Circumstances-Let's Get Fit

EM-Power invited EM food bloggers and physique athlete to share how to maintain a healthy lifestyle in the talk on 23 February 2023.

Hong Kong is a pluralistic society. People with disabilities, of different ages, different colors and different cultures can live and learn together, built on our mutual respect, acceptance and tolerance.

This staff training workshop, co-organized by the Centre for Teaching and Learning and the Student Affairs Office on 26 January 2023, aimed to help transform The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong into a model of promoting “inclusiveness of disabilities” in the higher education sector in Hong Kong and to facilitate teaching with SEN students in class.

Dreams Beyond Circumstances - Sharing of Ethnic Minority Youtuber and The Zubin Foundation

This talk was organized by EM-Power, a student support group formed by non-Chinese speaking (NCS) and ethnic minority (EM) students at HSUHK, on 7 October 2022. A EM youtuber was invited to share his experiences running a YouTube Channel while juggling with studies and the necessary skills he acquired from it.

A project officer of The Zubin Foundation shared their projects for the EM community in Hong Kong and the essential skills that employers were looking for in fresh graduates.
